Ginger I - Smoothies
What is ginger, exactly?
Ginger is a tropical flowering plant that originally grew in Southeast Asia and (yay!) is now widely available all around the world. It's a close relative of turmeric and adds delicious flavor to food. Better yet? It’s full of nutrients. People have been using the root for cooking and healing for thousands of years. Yes, HEALING.
Ginger can be eaten fresh, dried and stored as a spice, and even made into tablets, capsules, and liquid extracts.
Before we get started with yummy healing smoothie recipes, here’s a quick rundown on some of the awesome benefits of ginger:
anti-inflammatory!!!!!
warms & energizes the body when you are chilled or sluggish
helps with colds & flu when chills & congestion are among the symptoms
a star in alleviating upset stomach, nausea & vomiting
But I digress. Enough, Nutritional Beth, let’s get to recipes!
